iPhone 7 Plus Tidbits

I finally got my iPhone 7 Plus in Jet Black (#iPhonesexy haha) last week. I have a lot of stuff going on right now and have not had too much time to play with the new toy. I'm just going to talk about a few things with the device.

1. Jet Black - It is sooo sexy. It matches the Space Black Apple Watch very well and even more so when paired with the Space Black Milanese Loop or Space Black link bracelt. The antenna lines are very hard to see, almost disappearing with the shininess of the phone. I have an x-doria clear case on the phone currently thats keeping the micro abrasions clear from the phone. It's cheating but who cares. I may eventually look into a clear skin down the road.  Another thing I noticed about the Jet Black, it definitely has more grip than the other colors.

2. Plus Size - I have gone back and forth with this dilemma. When iPhone 6 and 6 Plus came out, I bought the Plus because it had the better camera, battery life (given since its bigger) and beautiful screen. When the 6S came out, I downsized to the 4.7 inch model. My motive was really one thing, the feel of the device in my hand. The curved edges of the 4.7 inch device just felt right. When the 7 was announced and the Plus had the dual lens, I knew I was getting it right away, more on that in a bit. I definitely missed the battery life from the plus. Viewing media on that screen are nice too.  I am finding myself having to re-adjust to holding the larger device again which I'm managing quite well. The only difficulty is when laying in bed and it slips out of my hand, otherwise all good.

3. That Camera!! It's good, like really really good. The Depth of Field (Plus only) is awesome, low light works very well. The camera is the main reason I opted for the plus. The 4.7 inch iPhone gained Optical Image Stabilization but only has one camera. I'm sure the 4.7in iPhone takes better photos, but that dual lens!!! Below are samples of Depth of field, low light, 1x, 2x, and 10x zoom.

4. No Headphone port - I don't care about this, neither should you, especially if you use bluetooth headphones. People are making way bigger of a deal with this than it needs to be. Apple has changed things before, removal of the floppy drive, than the disc drive, then the 30 pin connector, now it's the headphone port's turn. Apple is packaging a new adapter with every phone so you will still be able to use what ever headphones you'd like.

There you have it. As time goes on and I have more fun using it, I'm sure I will be able to write some more. For the time being, these are my initial thoughts. While I love the upgrades in the 7 Plus, the size and the color are not for everyone. You should pick the device that suits your needs and dont let anyone else tell you otherwise. With that said, I would love to hear what you think of the new device and wether you got one or not.
