Episode 26: The Final Countdown
Rss FeedThis week my "i-Like" (pick of the week) was the Apple App Store for iOS. Why did I go with this as my i-Like? It's simple. It is the best mobile store experience in the limited history of mobile operating systems. When the App Store first debuted, it did so with a few hundred select apps. In the last 3 years, that has expanded to near 400,000 apps and that's not counting iPad apps. So if iOS is your mobile operating system of choice, then you should have no trouble finding those apps that help you get the most out of your iPhone or iPad. But Apple has also been continously improving the experience with small tweaks along the way. The latest of which is a tab that displays your complete app purchase history. Now, there is no reason to keep apps on your iPhone you are not using. You can always go back to the App Store and redownload it whenever you feel the need (for free!). Finally, what I believe has made the App Store the undisputed king of mobile application stores is the fierce competition amongst app developers. There's money to be made by developers if you create a quality app, advertise it and price it to sell. Just take a look at the featured page and you will see cream of the crop apps at a price that buyers dont' even wince at. No where else can you get such a top notch experience with selections at such a bargain. Come to think of it, I should have picked the App Store as my i-Like much, much sooner.

I opened this podcast with a few words about Steve Jobs. He is the reason for this podcast.
Thanks Steve. Rest in peace.
